Semrush Pricing Leaves the Extra Seats Off the Card
As of September 2026, Semrush SEO is $139/mo and Starter is $199. One seat is included; extra users, $99 AI Visibility, and toolkits set the real invoice.

As of September 2026, Semrush SEO is $139/mo and Starter is $199. One seat is included; extra users, $99 AI Visibility, and toolkits set the real invoice.

Semrush pricing is $139/mo for the SEO card and $199/mo for Starter (SEO plus AI Search), as of September 2026. Ahrefs Lite is $129/mo if you only need a crawler. The sticker still omits seats: every plan includes one user, extra users cost $45 to $100, and AI Visibility is $99 per extra One user.
Semrush is an SEO and AI-visibility suite. Adobe closed the purchase of Semrush Holdings on 28 April 2026. The November 2025 deal was $12/share, about $1.9B.
The customer FAQ on 28 April 2026 froze product, billing, support, and existing contracts "at this time." It does not freeze 2027 renewals.
If you buy search as a managed channel (competitor research, audits, PPC overlap, now AI answers), the dashboard is the product. If you publish a few pages a month and already live in Google Search Console, you will pay for modules you never open.

Semrush sells keyword research, site audits, position tracking, competitor and PPC research, and (on One plans) AI Visibility across ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini, and Perplexity. The live catalog sits on SEO & AI pricing. Help docs still describe the older SEO Toolkit as Pro, Guru, and Business.
The public site is still branded Semrush, as a wholly owned Adobe subsidiary. Dual Adobe and Semrush contracts stay separate "for now." Ticker SEMR is gone.
Adobe Brand Visibility is a GEO SKU from Adobe, powered by Semrush data. It does not replace the $139 card.
Semrush reported FY2025 revenue of $443.6M and ARR of $471.4M. The FY2025 10-K puts paying customers at about 108,000 and ARR per customer at $4,369.
Adobe's close note still says over 28 million users globally. That is the free-plus-paid universe, not paying seats.
Same-tenant pricing pages that use this decoder shape: Mailchimp pricing, Mixpanel pricing, and Apollo.io pricing.
The live sales page shows four paid cards plus Enterprise and a free account. Toggle copy: "Annually save up to 17%." Annual dollars are monthly equivalents of a prepaid year, not 12 monthly charges.

Live card | Monthly | Annual equivalent | Prepaid year | Sites | Keywords | Distinctive unlock |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
SEO | $117.33 | $1,407.96 | 5 | 500 | SEO-only entry. No dedicated AI prompt quota. | |
Starter (SEO + AI Search) | $165.17 | $1,982.04 | 5 | 500 | 50 AI prompts/day, 1 AI brand domain, AI-ready Site Audit. Pro SEO limits, not Guru. | |
Pro+ (SEO + AI Search) | $248.17 | $2,978.04 | 15 | 1,500 | Historical SEO data, content optimization, 100 prompts/day. | |
Advanced (SEO + AI Search) | $455.67 | $5,468.04 | 40 | 5,000 | Share of Voice, API eligibility, 200 prompts/day. | |
Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | SSO, SLA, dedicated AM, multi-brand AI. |
Free | $0 | $0 | $0 | 1 demo | 10 reports/day | No credit card. Not a working plan. |
Live Semrush SEO and AI Search cards (September 2026)
The same four paid cards appear in KB 1011. Live-page add-ons: extra users from $45/mo; Lead Generation $90/mo; Base Report $10/mo; Pro Report $20/mo. Footer CTA: 7-day trial.
Help docs for Classic Pro still print $139.95. The live card is $139. Use the live card for checkout; treat $139.95 as the Classic KB figure.
Do not read a SERP snippet that says "starting at $45/mo" as the product price. That floor is extra users.
Help docs still sell Pro, Guru, and Business. Checkout sells SEO, Starter, Pro+, and Advanced. Same ladder, two name sets.
KB 1624 maps the catalogs: One Starter includes Pro SEO Toolkit limits; One Pro+ includes Guru; One Advanced includes Business.
Live sales card | Closest Classic tier | What actually changed |
|---|---|---|
SEO ($139) | Pro ($139.95) | SEO-only. $0.95 rounding vs the live $139 card. |
Starter ($199) | Pro + standalone AI Visibility (~$139.95 + $99) | Bundle vs buying both. Same 5 sites / 500 keywords as Pro. |
Pro+ ($299) | Guru + AI | 15 sites / 1,500 keywords, historical data, content tools, 100 AI prompts/day. |
Advanced ($549) | Business + AI | 40 sites / 5,000 keywords, API eligibility, Share of Voice, 200 prompts/day. |
If you need both classic SEO limits and AI Visibility, Starter at $199 undercuts Pro plus standalone AI (~$238.95) by about $40/mo. Starter at $199 is a bundle, not a $60 hike of the same SKU.
On r/SEO, the recurring read of the Starter card is a hike of the old $139 SKU. u/CmdWaterford wrote: "Impressive, from 139 to 199 USD for the Starter Package. Bye, Bye Semrush."
The dollar move is real. Starter still tracks 5 sites and 500 keywords. Guru-level limits start at Pro+ $299.
Semrush's own pitch in KB 1624: an annual One Pro+ at $248.17/mo is "essentially the same cost" as monthly Guru at $249.95. That compares prepaid One to month-to-month Classic. Flag the framing before you treat it as a discount.
Classic Pro / Guru / Business still appear in KB 1547 and a Pro vs Guru post (12 May 2025). KB 1624 still treats Classic as a buyable track, not renewal-only: you can upgrade an existing plan to Semrush One from the pricing page. The live sales page leads with One cards, so treat Classic as documented, not as the default checkout.
If you typed "Semrush Pro plan," the live SEO card is that SKU. Classic help still calls it Pro at $139.95.
KB 1547 Pro limits: 5 projects, 500 keywords, 100,000 crawl pages/mo, 10,000 results per report, 250 keyword-metric updates, 500 SEO Ideas, 3 scheduled PDFs.
What Pro does not include: historical SEO data, Topic Research, SEO Writing Assistant, Looker Studio, multi-location/device targeting, Share of Voice, or API access. Those sit on Guru / Business (live names: Pro+ / Advanced).
KB 1011 is blunt on the SEO card: no dedicated prompt quota, no AI-ready Site Audit, no per-domain brand performance. The SEO card may surface some AI tracking in marketing copy. The SEO card is not Starter.
A freelancer who only needs keyword research, a site audit, and position tracking on a handful of domains buys SEO / Pro. The moment you want quantified AI-answer tracking, Starter is the cheaper path than Pro plus a $99 AI Visibility add-on.
Guru is the first tier with historical data and content-optimization tools. Live name: Pro+ at $299/mo ($248.17 annual). Classic Guru list: $249.95/mo ($208.33 annual).
Guru / Pro+ limits: 15 projects, 1,500 keywords, 300,000 crawl pages/mo, 30,000 results per report. Unlocks: historical SEO data, Topic Research, SEO Writing Assistant, Looker Studio, multi-targeting, keyword cannibalization. One Pro+ adds 100 AI prompts/day.
Business is the API and Share of Voice tier. Live name: Advanced at $549/mo ($455.67 annual). Classic Business list: $499.95/mo ($416.66 annual).
Business / Advanced limits: 40 projects, 5,000 keywords, 1,000,000 crawl pages/mo, 50,000 results per report. Unlocks: SEO Share of Voice and API eligibility. Units are not in the subscription; see the API section below.
Ignore third-party tables that say "Guru includes 3 seats" or "Business includes 5." Official user management is one included seat on every plan.
Every plan includes one user. Extra users share account limits. AI Visibility, Traffic & Market, and App Center seats are per-user licenses.
Subscription | Extra SEO / One seat | Extra user + AI Visibility |
|---|---|---|
SEO Pro / One Starter | $45 | $45 + $99 = $144 |
SEO Guru / One Pro+ | $80 | $80 + $99 = $179 |
SEO Business / One Advanced | $100 | $100 + $99 = $199 |
Non-SEO toolkits only | $20 flat | n/a |
Traffic & Market extra user | $289 on top of the SEO seat | n/a |
Add-on toolkits are billed annually on their own pages. Do not fold them into the four-card SEO table.
Toolkit | Live extract | Official page |
|---|---|---|
AI Visibility (standalone) | $99/mo per domain, billed annually | |
Local | Base $30 / Pro $60 per location, billed annually. Business is contact-sales. Two public tiers. | |
Social | Base $20 (5 profiles); Pro $40 (10); Business $250 (Influencer Analytics + Media Monitoring) | |
Advertising | Base $99/mo billed annually; Pro $220 (adds AdClarity) | |
Traffic & Market | Pro $289/mo billed annually | |
Content | Base $60/mo billed annually. Not inside Semrush One. | |
Lead Generation | $90/mo (Agency Partners branded profile) | |
Reports | Base $10/mo per report; Pro $20/mo per report |
Agency Growth Kit is discontinued. Do not list it as a live SKU. Agency Partners is the $90/mo profile.
Worked invoices (official arithmetic, September 2026):
Buyer | Stack | Monthly | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
A. Freelancer, SEO only, annual | SEO card | $117.33 prepaid ($1,407.96/yr) | 5 sites, 500 keywords. No AI Visibility. |
B. Same person, wants AI tracking | One Starter | $199, or $165.17 annual ($1,982.04/yr) | Same 5/500 SEO limits. Cheaper than Pro + $99 AI. |
C. 3-person agency, Guru SEO, no AI | Guru annual + 2 extra seats | $208.33 + 2×$80 = $368.33 (~$4,420/yr) | Monthly Guru would be $249.95 + $160 = $409.95. |
D. Same agency, One Pro+ with AI on every seat | Pro+ + 2 full-AI users | $299 + 2×$179 = $657 | This is the invoice affiliates never model. |
E. Ecommerce, 3 storefronts local | Starter + Local Base ×3 | $199 + $90 = $289 | Before extra seats. |
F. API buyer | Advanced + unit pack | $549 + unpublished pack | Eligibility is not units. Budget a sales quote. |
Worked Semrush invoices
One Starter plus two extra full-AI users is $199 + 2×$144 = $487/mo. Advanced with the same pattern is $549 + 2×$199 = $947/mo.
On r/SEO, u/Crescitaly framed Starter as "almost $2,400/year just for basic SEO data" and started mixing Ahrefs with Search Console, Screaming Frog free, and Keyword Planner. The $2,388/year math on $199 is correct. The miss is the product: Starter is Pro limits plus AI Visibility, still 5 sites and 500 keywords.
These are different products. Mix them and you will pick the wrong CTA.
The free account needs no credit card. You get 1 demo project, 10 reports/day, 10 queries/day on core tools, Site Audit up to 100 pages, and Position Tracking for 10 keywords.
The free account is indefinite. It is not a working plan for client work.
The 7-day trial unlocks the paid plan you picked, then auto-bills unless you cancel. Exports are disabled. Each toolkit trial can be activated once per account.
The Agency Partners add-on trial is 14 days. Partner sites still advertise 14 days for new customers. Official SEO trial policy is 7.
Cancel through the logged-in form in KB 252. The refund policy covers online credit-card purchases only.
One-time 7-day money-back applies only to an initial subscription of 12 months or longer, and to initial add-on licenses. No refunds for month-to-month.
Annual means you prepay the year. The public toggle's "save up to 17%" is that prepay, not a coupon code farm. Unofficial "17% off" blogs restate the same toggle.
Add-ons on an annual account are prorated to the remaining term and share the renewal date. Limits refresh on renewal day, not calendar month-start. Combined charges are not itemized on the invoice, so reconciling a $657 seat stack against one line takes a spreadsheet.
FounderPass (verified 7 September 2026) still claims 17% off annual plus a 14-day trial for new customers. Treat that as a partner path. Ignore FounderPass Classic dollars (it still quotes Pro at $119.95); those are stale against live $139 / $199.
Adobe's customer FAQ is the other annual-prepay risk. Existing contracts were frozen at close. The FAQ does not promise the 2027 renewal looks the same, so a September 2026 prepay is a bet that freeze still holds.
Advanced (docs still say upgrade to SEO Business) unlocks the right to buy API units. After upgrade, units start at 0.
Packs: 2M / 5M / 10M / 20M. Unused units expire. Rate limit: 10 inquiries/sec.
Pack list prices are unpublished. Domain Organic Keywords costs 10 units per line live, 50 historical. Trends API defaults to 10,000 requests/mo and does not use Standard units.
Do not treat "$549/mo" as API pricing. It is eligibility. Budget a sales quote for the pack, and do not invent a dollars-per-million rate.

For the head-to-head with Ahrefs, use the live Ahrefs vs Semrush page rather than a second pricing table here.
Similarweb is a traffic-intel foil, not an SEO-suite substitute.
Buy the SEO card at $139 only when five sites and 500 keywords cover the work and you do not need AI Visibility. Buy Starter at $199 when you want that AI layer without jumping to Guru limits.
Budget Pro+ plus seats the moment a second human logs in. If that sentence already feels expensive, you do not have a Semrush problem: you have a side-tool problem, and Search Console is cheaper.

Cursor pricing review: $20 is the marketing floor. Pro+ is $60, Ultra $200, Teams $40 or $120. Two usage pools, on-demand, and what teams actually spend.

Basic $15/mo yearly, Premium $25. Site + workspace + seats: a solo brochure is $15; a 5-person team hits $230/mo.
